We have some fantastic Scottish organic trout products from the Cairngorm Smokehouse. We are really pleased to be able to offer these fantastic products – Lindsay tasted them last summer when the smokehouse was just getting its organic lines off the ground. Delfour Fine Foods is based at a small, family run hatchery at the base of the Monadhliath Mountains, where the fish are grown to the highest welfare standards. Highly prized by anglers, brown trout are only farmed in very small numbers due to their wild and slow growing nature. The fish are hand selected and smoked using traditional skills resulting in these fantastic Highland products.

Organic Smoked Brown Trout Paté      £3!

This delicious paté is a fantastic blend of native Scottish oak smoked organic brown trout and organic crowdie (a traditional Scottish curd cheese produced by Connage Highland dairy).Delicious on our Hebridean oatcakes.

Hot smoked Organic Brown Trout       £5!

Trout that has been oak smoked at a high temperature. The hot smoked brown trout is easily broken into succulent flakes and is delicious alone, or flaked into rice or pasta dishes. 150g serves 3 as a starter or 2 as a main course.

What’s been happening….

The beautiful local veg is now coming through in abundance- and we are delighted to be able to put lovely local broccoli, broad beans, salad, spinach, kale and chard from Fife. We are also getting beautiful fresh salad leaves, chard, summer cabbage, lettuces (red rosette) and spinach from various growers in East Lothian. The strawberry season this year we feel has been a little disappointing, with the quality degrading in front of our eyes - the with huge variations in taste, so we haven't been getting many of these in. We will try to revisit the fruit again and see how things are a little further into the season. The new potatoes are truly delicious - so we are delighted to be offering these tasty wee tatties from Fife. We get very excited about all the leafy greens, so please do remember to let us know if you think we are being over-enthusiastic, so that we can keep the right balance for you
